Interview Session
Posted by Kevin Hicks on 6th September 2013

Today I had a great afternoon with St Pauls School, CovenIn order to develop her student’s inquiry skills, Head of History, Andrea Potts had the great idea of showing the students a photograph this morning, of a character from history – in this case my Zulu Wars character, dressed in a fine red tunic complete with rifle.  The aim was to encourage the youngsters to imagine what questions they would ask the soldier if given the opportunity to go back in time and interview him.

Then as a surprise at their usual afternoon assembly, Miss Potts enlarged the photograph onto the big screen.  The children were amazed when that character actually walked into the room and they realised they would have the opportunity to put into practice the interview questions and techniques they had developed earlier.

It worked brilliantly as I was hot-seated class by class and saw the most wonderful reactions to their questions.

If you would like to do a similar project, please get in touch for more information.
