KS2 Roman Workshop

During our workshop, our centurion, in full Roman armour, will introduce your class to the day to day life of Romans in Britain. We start with a detailed examination of a legionary's kit, including a chance for your students to try on a lorica segmentata and hamata, and feel the weight of a scutum and gladius. We now make use of our world-class collection of artefacts, such as oil lamps, wax tablets, and xylospongium, (all of which your students can hold), as we explore the Roman conquest of Britain, and the incredible stories of Caratacus and Boudicca. Then, it's time for your pupils to perform some marching and shield drills (in Latin!). Exhausted, we explore a Roman bath house (while building an aqueduct), as well as a games arena. We finish our workshop with some authentic and entertaining Roman stories and games.
