KS2 Vikings

During the workshop, our Viking hersir will introduce your students to the Vikings' explorations around the world, the countries they travelled to and raided, and what daily life was like for them. He brings along with him two Viking ships; a trading ship and a longship. Your pupils will have the opportunity to get up close with the ships (and help build them and raise the sails!), try on helmets and mail, as well as handle our world-class collection of artefacts. Then, your students will have great fun playing with kennings, building a shield wall, and recreating the battles of both Fulford and Stamford Bridge. We will also have a go at one of the favourite games of the Vikings - Kingy bats! We round up the session with our Hersir  demonstrating some of the methods of cooking and making clothing, while telling a number of incredible and engaging stories from the Viking Sagas.
